Endoscopy

endoscopy

Yale Health Endoscopy provides endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy) for Yale Health members and students with Hospitalization & Specialty Care coverage. A referral from your primary care provider is required to schedule an appointment with this department.

What to Expect
Plan to be with us for approximately 3 hours from arrival to discharge.

Preparation
Please follow the instructions provided via MyChart and during your telephone consultation with our nurse. Your preparation may include dietary changes and possible medication adjustments depending on your procedure. It is also important to hydrate prior to any endoscopic procedure. A few weeks before your test, a nurse from the Endoscopy Department will contact you to review instructions and arrange for any necessary prescriptions. We are here to support you every step of the way!

Transportation Requirement
You must arrange for a family member or friend to pick you up from the Endoscopy Suite after your procedure. The medication administered during your exam may cause drowsiness, making it unsafe to drive or take public transportation alone.

Post-Procedure Care
If you experience any complications after your procedure, please contact Acute Care at 203-432-0123.
