Dermatology

The Dermatology Department provides a full range of skin care to our members with a referral from their primary care provider:

  • Adult and pediatric dermatology
  • Treatment of diseases affecting the skin, hair, and nails
  • Dermatologic surgery
  • Phototherapy
  • Limited patch testing
  • Skin cancer surveillance

Cosmetic dermatology concerns, such as skin tags, wrinkles, routine skin care and scars, are not seen in Dermatology and are not a Yale Health covered benefit.

On occasion we will refer you to a dermatologist outside of Yale Health for a specific issue. You must return to Yale Health for follow-up care once the issue has been completed.

Medicare patients and students who have waived Yale Health Hospitalization/Specialty Care coverage cannot be seen in the Dermatology Department.

Biopsy and Lab Results

Results for skin biopsies usually take one week. Blood work is usually available within 1 to 3 working days. Results will be communicated to you via telephone, mailings, or MyChart.

Mole Screening Appointments

NOTE: If you have a specific mole/lesion of concern, contact your primary care provider for an evaluation or a referral as soon as possible.
