Update on Medication Shortages
The following medications are commonly used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes or weight management: Ozempic, Wegovy, Saxenda, Trulicity, or Mounjaro. In recent months, the demand for these drugs, as well as supply issues, have led to a global shortage of these medications.
While our pharmacy team will continue to monitor the availability of these medications and investigate options for you, Yale Health has identified the following temporary measures for individuals undergoing treatment. Any specific changes will depend on your individual situation and diagnoses, and will be developed in collaboration with your PCP:
- Dosage adjustment: The dosage of your prescribed medication may be adjusted to maintain you on the same therapy.
- Alternative medication: A different medication that works similarly and can achieve the desired results of your current prescription.
- There will be a temporary limit of all fills of these medications to a 30-day supply.
In addition, we are working with providers to delay new prescriptions of these medications.
If you have questions or concerns about these changes, please contact your prescribing provider or our pharmacy to discuss available options so we may continue meeting your healthcare needs. Our primary goal is to continue providing you with the best possible care throughout this challenging situation.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
