Dr. Vicente Diaz is an ophthalmologist specializing in ocular immunology and infectious diseases. He treats a wide range of conditions—from cataracts and dry eye to complex autoimmune eye diseases—using advanced techniques like immune-modulatory therapy and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), which offers safer, more precise outcomes.
As director of ophthalmology for the Connecticut Burn Center, Dr. Diaz sees the most cases of Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) in the state, a rare and severe condition that can lead to blindness. He also co-investigates clinical trials on novel treatments for inflammatory eye diseases.
Dr. Diaz was inspired to pursue medicine as a child and later found ophthalmology to be a powerful intersection of multiple specialties. His work combines patient care, research, and leadership with a lasting goal: to restore and preserve the gift of sight for as many people as possible.
