Dr. Shawn Mines joined Yale Health in 2024.  He earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA, and completed an internship at Emory University in the Counseling and Psychological Services department. He has also worked at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents.

Dr. Mines has a passion for treating college students. He considers the internal and external factors contributing to psychological and relational functioning, including race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, country of origin, geography, and positionality. He integrates cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and Black feminist thought/African-centered, Black psychology approaches.  His clinical interests include anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, racial trauma, acculturative and other stress-related disorders.
