Dr. Kia Sayers is a 3rd year psychiatry resident who joined Yale Mental Health and Counseling clinic in July 2023 and will be returning as a 4th year resident. She moved to Connecticut from Louisiana to start Yale’s psychiatry residency program in 2021 after graduating from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Since, she has worked in various settings for training including outpatient, inpatient, long-term therapy, emergency, and intensive outpatient programs.
Dr. Sayers enjoys working with transitional periods of life, leading to her focusing her training on undergraduate and graduate populations. Her clinical interests include women’s mental health and reproductive psychiatry, nutritional psychiatry and holistic care, trans-care, the biracial experience, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She plans to pursue a fellowship in women’s mental health and reproductive psychiatry after graduating residency.
