Dr. Karen Hoffman joined Yale Health in 2006 as a postdoctoral associate. She has been a member of the clinical staff since 2007. Dr. Hoffman became the Postgraduate Training Director in 2021. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee and completed her internship at the Yale School of Medicine working at the Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital Inpatient Adolescent Unit and the Intensive Outpatient Program. 

Dr. Hoffman has a particular interest in emerging adulthood. Her clinical interests include anxiety disorders, chronic or acute medical issues, identity issues, grief, and working with student athletes.  She integrates psychodynamic psychotherapy with behavioral and cognitive behavioral approaches.  Dr. Hoffman greatly enjoys getting to work with postdoctoral associates during their training year.
