Dr. Joseph Ocran joined Yale Health as a psychology Postdoctoral Associate at Yale Health, Mental Health and Counseling in August 2023. He received a doctorate in clinical psychology from Divine Mercy University’s Institute for the Psychological Sciences and completed his internship at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center. 

Dr Ocran, drawing from his cultural experiences of living in Ghana, Scotland, and the United States, takes a holistic approach to the person, taking account of multicultural diversity. He uses an integrative approach informed by various evidence-based therapies, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), interpersonal, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapies, and other humanistic modalities. His clinical and research interests include interpersonal relationships, mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, spirituality, international student experiences, and social conflict. He enjoys working with students as they navigate new cultural contexts.
