Dr. Elena Renken first joined Yale Health Mental Health and Counseling as a postdoctoral fellow in 2019 and subsequently joined staff as a Staff Psychologist. Dr. Renken received her doctoral degree at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. For her doctoral internship, Dr. Renken worked with adolescents and adults in an intensive outpatient / partial hospitalization program in the Chicago area.

Dr. Renken specializes in treating individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with adjunctive Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Renken also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and ACT to treat other anxiety disorders (including panic disorder and phobias) and difficulties with emotion regulation. Additionally, Dr. Renken has advanced training in the integration of faith and mental health and enjoys working with students who consider faith, religion, and/or spirituality important parts of their identity.
