Dr. Ana Lizcano joined Yale Health as a Staff Psychologist in 2019. Dr. Lizcano completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Fairfield University and her Masters and Doctorate in Psychology at the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology at the University of Hartford. Dr. Lizcano’s training included an APA-accredited internship at The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT and subsequent postdoctoral training at a private practice with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families in Cheshire, CT. Her prior work experience included working for 5-6 years at a therapeutic day school as a clinical psychologist with students ages 5 to 21 who required alternative schooling due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental and/or learning difficulties.
Dr. Lizcano's clinical interest include working with college students from diverse cultural/ethnic/racial/religious backgrounds, international, immigration, LGBTQ+, low-income first generation, intergenerational trauma, trauma, complex family dynamics, FroCos, athletes, anxiety, depression, grief/bereavement, and relationship issues. She utilizes a psychodynamic and interpersonal framework with a humanistic, holistic, cognitive behavioral, and behavioral approaches.
