Student Hospitalization/Specialty Care Coverage Overview

All students enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program are automatically enrolled in Yale Health Hospitalization/Specialty Care Coverage, billed via a fee. This additional coverage builds upon what’s offered in the Basic Student Health Services and includes:

  • Allergy: For managing allergies effectively.
  • Dermatology: Care for skin conditions.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: X-rays, MRIs, and other imaging services.
  • Ear, Nose & Throat: Specialized ENT care.
  • Emergency Department (ER): Immediate and urgent care services.
  • Infectious Diseases: Treatment for infectious conditions.
  • Endocrinology: Care for hormone-related issues.
  • Gastroenterology: Digestive system care.
  • Hospital Services: Comprehensive hospital care.
  • Neurology: Care for brain and nervous system issues.
  • Obstetrics: Childbirth and pregnancy care.
  • Oncology: Cancer care.
  • Ophthalmology: Eye care services.
  • Orthopedics: Bone, joint, and muscle care.
  • Physical Therapy: Rehabilitation services.
  • Urology: Urinary system care.

If you require services unavailable on-site, they may still be covered with prior authorization from Yale Health.

In addition to the specialized services, Hospitalization/Specialty Care Coverage includes free preventive immunizations and generic oral contraceptives from the Yale Health Center Pharmacy.
