Member Update – July 2024
Please see below for information about driving access to Lock Street, unsolicited emails, and coverage outside of Connecticut.
Lock Street Construction
Yale Health Center’s driveway will undergo construction in the coming months to remove part of the “island” and widen the turnaround area before the garage entrance. This update will make turning around before the garage (drop-off area) and crossing the driveway easier and safer for everyone.
The project will begin on July 15th and continue through September 6th. Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, and flaggers and clear signage will be present to guide pedestrians and drivers throughout the project.
During the initial phase:
- Vehicles will continue to enter and exit the driveway and garage as usual.
- The sidewalk that connects to Ashmun Street will be closed during this time.
- All pedestrian traffic will be routed to Lock Street.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the Yale Health Center driveway. Please see the map below for further details and clarification.
Reminder: Yale Health is NOT Yale New Haven Health / Yale Medicine
In June, many Yale Health members received an unsolicited email (see image on right) from Yale New Haven Health (email address info@m.ynhhs.org) regarding “Free Hernia Screenings” at their Digestive Health Center. The email did NOT come from Yale Health; our members are NOT approved to go to that location without a referral.
We apologize for the inconvenience and contacted our YNHH counterparts to discuss their future marketing efforts that may target our members.
Urgent Care In and Outside of Connecticut
Another frequent question we hear from our members concerns accessing urgent care centers. Acute Care at 55 Lock Street is the only approved urgent care facility in Connecticut. But in an emergency, go to the nearest emergency room.
The Yale Health Employee Coverage Booklet is a great resource to review from time to time to familiarize yourself with your benefits and coverage through Yale Health.
The graphic below explains the difference between seeking Urgent Care in Connecticut and when you are outside of Connecticut.
