Lock Street Access Update

Lock Street will become a one-way street due to construction occurring on Lock Street adjacent to Grove Street Cemetery.

Beginning Thursday, June 1 through October, Lock Street will become a one way street due to construction occurring on Lock Street adjacent to Grove Street Cemetery. The exit from Yale Health will become a left turn only. Be sure to account for potential road congestion due to this partial closure when traveling to Yale Health. We recommend adding an extra 10 to 15 minutes to your drive.

Additional notes on this change:

  • The city of New Haven will place detour signs in the area to help drivers navigate to Yale Health.
  • New Haven police officers will be stationed at both ends of Lock and Canal Streets.
  • All incoming traffic from I-91 will either go south on Orange, Temple, or Prospect Streets and take a right onto Grove/Tower Parkway to follow detour signs to Lock Street.
  • The sidewalk adjacent to Yale Health will remain open.
