Silvio E. Inzucchi, MD, is the director of the Yale Medicine Diabetes Center, where he treats patients with diabetes as well as pituitary and adrenal disorders. He finds endocrinology rewarding due to its potential to significantly improve patients’ quality of life through multidisciplinary and evidence-based care. As a professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine and clinical director of endocrinology, he brings deep academic expertise to his practice.

Dr. Inzucchi’s research focuses on the cardiovascular effects of diabetes medications and glucose management in hospital settings. He has received Yale’s prestigious David J. Leffell Prize for Clinical Excellence, honoring his skill, compassion, and dedication to teaching. His 30 years at Yale have shaped a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care.

He emphasizes connecting with patients beyond their diagnosis, seeking to understand their values, experiences, and personal goals. “Patients don’t want to be seen as just a diagnosis—they want to be seen as people,” he says. This philosophy, combined with staying current on medical advancements, allows him to offer care that is both cutting-edge and deeply human.
