Dr. JuanCarlos Cleves-Bayon joined Yale Health in 2016 as Staff Psychiatrist. He received his M.D. degree at the Universidad el Bosque in Bogota Colombia, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University in Montreal Canada. He did his residency in Adult Psychiatry and subspecialty in Geriatric Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Cleves-Bayon has worked in different settings, including inpatient mental health care, where he has worked in adult and geriatric inpatient psychiatric units at Yale New Haven Health.
He specializes in the care of young and older adults with a focus on the care of people with severe mental illness and mental health issues related to medical disorders, with an emphasis in the integration of medical and mental health care.
He practices both pharmacotherapy and psychoanalytic-informed or psychodynamic psychotherapy.
