Dr. Jingru Chen joined Yale Health as a Staff Psychologist in 2023. Prior to joining the staff, Dr. Chen was a postdoctoral associate at Yale Health Mental Health and Counseling. She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas and completed an internship at the Counseling Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She obtained her master’s degree in counseling and student personnel psychology at the University of Minnesota. Before that, Dr. Chen grew up and attended college in China.
Dr. Chen's clinical interests include anxiety and depression, identity development, multicultural/diversity issues, international-student concerns, first-generation college student adjustment, and relationship concerns. She integrates a humanistic approach with psychodynamic, strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, and multicultural approaches.
