Anika Anam, MD, is an endocrinologist who treats patients with osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, and both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Her passion for endocrinology began during her medical training, where she was drawn to the complexity of hormonal disorders and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients. She emphasizes understanding each condition in the context of the whole patient.
Dr. Anam finds endocrine diseases compelling due to the intricate interactions among glands and hormones. She takes a comprehensive approach to treatment, reassuring patients that even challenging conditions like osteoporosis can be managed through lifestyle changes, medications, and tailored therapies. Her goal is to help patients make informed decisions aligned with their individual priorities.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Anam is interested in obesity, PCOS, and gender-affirming care. She completed both a clinical and research fellowship at Yale, focusing on metabolism and reproductive health. Now an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, she is actively involved in medical education and clinical research on bone health.
