Walter Longo, MD, MBA, is a colorectal surgeon who treats adults with a range of conditions, including hemorrhoids, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and cancers of the colon, rectum, and anus. He uses both surgical and nonsurgical approaches, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques and newer treatments like biologic medications and targeted therapies. These advances are improving survival and quality of life for many patients who previously faced limited options.
Dr. Longo was inspired to pursue medicine by his father, also a surgeon, and views his work as a calling rooted in service. He values the broad scope of colorectal surgery, which allows him to treat everything from minor conditions to complex cancers. He takes a compassionate, patient-centered approach, especially for those struggling with sensitive health issues.
He emphasizes the importance of listening and building trust with patients who may feel vulnerable or anxious about their symptoms and creating a safe and welcoming environment.
