Preventing High Blood Pressure

Would you like to prevent high blood pressure?

Come and learn how to reduce your risk of high blood pressure, the “silent killer”, which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

Prediabetes Group Education

This group class is offered monthly for our patients with prediabetes. After
attending the group class you will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the instructor for personal support.

You will learn:

  • What prediabetes is;
  • About risk factors;
  • And simple lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of developing diabetes.

Yale Health provides information sessions for patients who are soon to retire and those recently retired and who are Medicare eligible to help you learn about what it means to transition from an active Yale Health member to Medicare patient. Diabetes Education Series

Yale Health clinical staff members will present these four sessions to Yale Health members with type 2 diabetes:”

  • “What is diabetes?” and self-monitoring
  • Healthy eating and activity
  • Medications
  • Complications, sick day management, and healthy coping

Early Pregnancy Education Class

Taking time to learn about your pregnancy is the first step in an amazing journey.

Leslie White, APRN, will discuss prenatal testing, prenatal vitamins, diet recommendations, and information that will be useful during your pregnancy.

Spouses or partners are welcome to attend.

Please note: This class does not take the place of scheduled office visits, but is rather an opportunity for Yale Health members to receive general information and ask questions about their new pregnancy.

Childbirth Education Program

Childbirth preparation for parents-to-be in 1-day Saturday and 3-Wednesday evenings formats, along with scheduling your hospital tour. Milestones of labor and birth, coping skills and options.  Suggested for women who are 7-8 months pregnant. Register during months 5-6. Fees are low and partial scholarships are available.

English as a Second Language

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven is offering free English as a Second Language classes.  These are conversation classes for people who want to develop their English communication skills. On-site tutoring opportunities are available as well.
