Power Up with a Plant-Based Lifestyle

Are you interested in learning more about how to adopt a plant-based diet? Yale Health’s registered dietitian, Alisa Scherban, will help guide you by explaining:

• the health benefits of plant-based eating

• the differences between various plant-based diets

• how to meet your protein needs with plant foods

• other importance vitamin and minerals that you need

• shopping and cooking tips to make plant-based eating work for you

Prediabetes Group Education

This group class is offered monthly for our patients with prediabetes. After attending the group class you will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the instructor for personal support.

You will learn:

  • What prediabetes is;
  • About risk factors;
  • And simple lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of developing diabetes.

Maybe you’re a member who would like more information about your Yale Health coverage.

Join us for a tour of the Yale Health Center followed by an orientation session to learn about Yale Health. 

There will be time to ask questions in a group setting or on an individual basis.

Diabetes Education Series

Yale Health clinical staff members will present these four sessions to Yale Health members with type 2 diabetes:”

  • “What is diabetes?” and self-monitoring
  • Healthy eating and activity
  • Medications
  • Complications, sick day management, and healthy coping

Childbirth Education Program

Childbirth preparation for parents-to-be in 1-day Saturday and 3-Wednesday evenings formats, along with scheduling your hospital tour. Milestones of labor and birth, coping skills and options.  Suggested for women who are 7-8 months pregnant. Register during months 5-6. Fees are low and partial scholarships are available.

Dancing Through Pregnancy® - Total Pregnancy Fitness

English as a Second Language

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven is offering free English as a Second Language classes.  These are conversation classes for people who want to develop their English communication skills. On-site tutoring opportunities are available as well.
