Stephanie Schmidt, MD

Dr. Stephanie Schmidt is a primary care sports medicine physician who specializes in nonoperative orthopaedics, treating conditions like joint pain, muscle strains, arthritis, and tendinitis. She provides comprehensive musculoskeletal care, including ultrasound-guided joint and tendon injections, with a focus on helping patients stay active and avoid surgery.

 

Dr. Schmidt developed a deep respect for medicine early in life. Her passion for musculoskeletal anatomy and whole-person care led her to combine family medicine with a sports medicine fellowship—an ideal match for her interest in preventive care and physical activity.

 

As head primary care physician for Yale Athletics and a member of a state sports medicine committee, Dr. Schmidt brings a community-focused approach to care. She values listening to patients’ stories and setting realistic expectations, partnering with them to create personalized treatment plans that support long-term mobility and wellness.
