203.432.6653

The SHARE Center provides counseling, information, and advocacy on behalf of survivors of sexual violence, as well as people dealing with sexual harassment, stalking, or intimate partner violence. Yale's Sexual Harassment and Assault Resources & Education Center (SHARE) has counselors who can assist callers with:

  • Counseling by phone or in person, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    Note: It is best to call ahead to let us know you are on the way, but it is also possible to walk in.

SHARE Counselors can also:

  • Help clients process their experiences and consider what actions to take;
  • Facilitate meetings with specially trained officers of the Yale Police Department who can explain the procedures and steps for a forensic investigation;
  • Participate in meetings with the Yale Police (either at the Police Department or at Yale Health);
  • Accompany sexual assault survivors to the Emergency Department for evidence collection and arrange for expedited entry in advance;
  • Meet with students on an ongoing basis as desired;
  • Assist in whatever complaint process the student wants to pursue by:
  1. Helping to explain the various processes available;
  2. Accompanying the student throughout the complaint process;
  3. Serving as an advocate as needed.
  • Arrange for an advocate from the New Haven Rape Crisis Center to provide additional support if desired;
  • Work with friends or supporters of survivors;
  • Provide training and educational services for members of the Yale Community.

The decision for any specific action, both immediate and long term, is up to the survivor.
