How do I enroll for mail order service?

Follow the steps listed on the Catamaran Home Delivery registration instructions to create your account. 

Can I place my order over the phone or electronically?

The preferred method is that your clinician send your eligible prescriptions to Catamaran Home Delivery electronically or via fax at 800-893-2299. You may also request a paper prescription from your clinican and mail it in along with a completed Pharmacy Mail Order form.

Once your prescriptions have transitioned to Catamaran Home Delivery, you can request refills and renewals at optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx or by calling 800-763-0044.

What are the copayments for mail order service?

Clerical & Technical (C&T), Service & Maintenance (S&M), Faculty and Managerial & Professional (M&P) staff pay 2 co-pays for a 90-100 day supply.

YPBA staff pay 1 co-pay for a 90-100 day supply.

How are prescriptions shipped?

Prescriptions are sent through the United States Postal Service. Standard shipping is free. However, Catamaran Home Delivery also offers expedited shipping for an extra charge.

You should receive your order within 14 days from the time Catamaran Home Delivery receives your prescription. Once received, a prescription typically takes one to two days to be processed and mailed if no additional information or clarification is required. Please allow a few extra days for your first order. If you have questions or do not receive your order within 14 days, please check the website at optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx or contact Catamaran Home Delivery at 800-763-0044.

Situations that may create a delay include an incomplete or unreadable prescription, manufacturer backorders, and medications that require prior authorization or renewal. We will notify you if there will be a delay with your prescription shipment. Prescriptions may be shipped in separate packages, if necessary. Note: Orders received without payment cause processing delays and extended delivery times.

What if I move out of state or am away when I need my medications?

If you are away and need medications you can edit your current shipping address at optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx.

What if I don't receive my prescriptions?

Yale Health is not responsible for lost or stolen prescriptions.

Visit optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx or call 800-763-0044. Members who create an account on optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx will receive email notification when a prescription is shipped.

What is the difference between this mail order service and Aetna Rx Home Delivery?

The Catamaran Home Delivery is for Yale employees and their dependents who are members of Yale Health and the fulfillment is through Catamaran Home Delivery.

Aetna Rx Home Delivery has its own mail order service and it is available to Yale retirees who are Medicare eligible. To get information about Aetna Rx Home Delivery service please call 1-800-872-3862.

What if I have no refills left on my prescription?

You can request renewals at optumrx.com/mycatamaranrx or by calling 800-763-0044.

Is there additional cost to use mail order service?

What should I do if I am late in placing my order?

Call Catamaran Home Delivery at 800-763-0044.

Will I have to be home to receive/sign for my order?

You do not need to be home to receive or sign for most medications.

Certain controlled substance medications or refrigerated items do require a signature.

Please check with Catamaran Home Delivery at 800-763-0044 for information on whether your medications will require a signature. 

Will I be able to order over-the-counter items through the mail?

Only over-the-counter products covered under your prescription benefit can be ordered through Catamaran Home Delivery with a valid prescription from your clinician.

How long will it take for me to get my prescriptions by mail with Catamaran Home Delivery?

Please allow 10-14 days for delivery of your prescriptions.

Who should I speak to if I have questions about my medications such as side effects, dosage, etc.?
