Confused About Cholesterol? What You Need To Know

This class will help you learn how to manage your cholesterol and reduce your risk of developing heart disease. Participants will learn about cholesterol types and numbers, set realistic goals and get practical tips on reducing their risk of heart disease.

This class is led by Alisa Scherban, Registered Dietitian and Health Educator.

Participants are welcome to bring their lunch.

Prediabetes Group Education

This group class is offered monthly for our patients with prediabetes. After attending the group class you will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the instructor for personal support.

You will learn:

  • What prediabetes is;
  • About risk factors;
  • And simple lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of developing diabetes.

Diabetes Education Series

Yale Health clinical staff members will present these four sessions to Yale Health members with type 2 diabetes:”

  • “What is diabetes?” and self-monitoring
  • Healthy eating and activity
  • Medications
  • Complications, sick day management, and healthy coping

Childbirth Education Program

Childbirth preparation for parents-to-be in 1-day Saturday and 3-Wednesday evenings formats, along with scheduling your hospital tour. Milestones of labor and birth, coping skills and options.  Suggested for women who are 7-8 months pregnant. Register during months 5-6. Fees are low and partial scholarships are available.

Dancing Through Pregnancy® - Total Pregnancy Fitness

Total Pregnancy Fitness classes meet at the Yale Health Center every Monday and Wednesday evening with low fees for Yale Health members and discounts for students.

  • Learn breastfeeding basics and how to get off to a great start
  • Discuss the “art of breastfeeding” and the joys and benefits it provides to you and your baby
  • Explore common concerns parents have about breastfeeding

English as a Second Language

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven is offering free English as a Second Language classes.  These are conversation classes for people who want to develop their English communication skills. On-site tutoring opportunities are available as well.
