Exposure to Blood or Bodily Fluids at Work

Employees or students who are pricked by a needle at work (“needlestick”) should immediately call Yale Health for care  (Employee Health Department 203-432-7978, Student Health 203-432-0312, or Acute Care 203-432-0123). It is important to begin any recommended treatment within 1 to 2 hours after exposure.

If the exposure occurs at the Yale-New Haven Medical Center, and the employee or student wishes to be seen on site, he/she should report to Occupational Health (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) at 203-688-2462 or to Yale-New Haven Hospital Emergency Room at 203-688-2222 if the episode occurs outside of regular daytime working hours.
