How will I receive my test results from Specialty Services?

Results are communicated through follow-up visits, by a telephone call from our department, with MyChart or by mail.

How will I get the results from my mammogram?

The Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven will send you a letter with the results of your mammogram or you will be contacted if any follow-up care is needed with the results of your mammogram.

When do I get my lab results?

Availability of test results varies with the type of test ordered. Please allow at least five business days for your test results to return and for the ordering clinician to review them.

If you have not heard from us about test results within two weeks, we encourage you to leave a message for your clinician's medical assistant who will coordinate with your primary care clinician to provide you with results.

Many tyest results are available in MyChart.

How can I get my lab test results?

Results will be communicated to you by the ordering clinician through the mail, through MyChart (a secure web-based clinician-patient communication tool), or via phone. 

Availability of test results varies with the type of test ordered. Please allow at least five business days for your test results to return and for the ordering clinician to review them.

If you have not heard from us about test results within two weeks, we encourage you to leave a message for your clinician to provide you with results.

The fastest way to get your lab results is to enroll in MyChart. Most lab results are released to your MyChart account 72 hours after the lab finalizes them.

Note: At this time, pathology reports are not automatically released by MyChart but may be released by your ordering clincian.

How do I get the results of my Diagnostic Imaging test?

The clinician that referred you for the exam will give you the results of the test. The radiology results are only one part of your diagnosis; it is best that your referring clinician provide you with the full diagnosis.

Your results will also be available after 7 days in MyChart (a secure web-based clinician-patient communication tool).

 

Can the radiology technologist, ultrasound technologist, or CT scan technologist give me the results of my exam?

No.  The technologists review each film for technical quality and ensure that optimal information is available. The medical report on your films is provided by a radiologist at a later time. This report is then passed onto your referring clinician.

When will I get my biopsy or lab results from Dermatology?

Results for skin biopsies usually take one week. Blood work is usually available within 1 to 3 working days. Results will be communicated to you via telephone, mailings, or MyChart.
